From Active:
Race on Sunday, to SELL on Monday. This old saying is indicative of
the new Generation 6 supercharger system of the E46 M3. Through
countless hours of testing, it has often been quoted that the true
test has always been a race environment. What better venue than
Brock Yates One Lap of America Race, 2009. With a rigorous 7,000
miles to be covered within a week, and to compete against the likes
of Porsches, Corvettes, Nissan GTRs, would be the testing grounds
for the new Generation Active Autowerke supercharger system. The
Active Autowerke new GTS 8550 supercharger not only proved its
worth by being the highest ranked BMW within the field, but came
1st in its class. The data and technology that made this winning
combination is now being applied in the new Generation 6 of the
Active Autowerke supercharged E46 M3 level 1. Reliability and power
is needed if you want to be on the podium, and this new Generation
6 will deliver exactly that. Consistent, repeatable runs of over
420 WHP (510 engine horsepower) were also recorded on the Active
Autowerke chassis dyno in hot 94 + degree Fahrenheit conditions
with humidity in the 60% + range. These run conditions might be
considered a deterrent and not really suited, but it is better
knowing the horsepower numbers are under such conditions, since
higher horsepower numbers will only increase as the temperature
falls and the air becomes and more dense. The Active Autowerke
supercharger is not only impressive, but the transformation is
truly surprising when you compare the factory output of 333 horses
and you now have on tap 510 horses. The level 1 system from Active
Autowerke is a complete system and not a "partial" system offered
by other kit manufacturers. With the S54 engine having a
compression of 11.5:1, the engineers here at Active Autowerke find
anything less than an intercooled system is to be incomplete. With
little to no maintenance and no worry of your air to water system
failing, the air to air intercooler provided in our system is a

Stage 2:
From Active: Active Autowerke set the tuning industry on
fire by engineering the planet’s first proven supercharger system
for the E46 M3. But some are you are flat-out hard to impress, so
we felt compelled to raise the power bar even higher with a Level 2
solution that was un poco more aggressive – while still as refined
and reliable as our standard kit.
Today, we’re up to Generation 3 of this dyno destroyer. And the
numbers are hotter than ever.
The stage 2 System boosts the cars power output over 600BHP and
includes an upgraded fuel system (includes two fuel pumps, fuel
filter, all new -6 lines, fuel pressure regulator, dead end fuel
rail, upgraded injectors and all required fittings), and
intercooler that is required to run this system reliably.
Increased power output is achieved with a smaller 70 mm pulley
(5 mm less than Level 1) and some very crafty software goosing. A
supercooling Active Autowerke water/alcohol injection kit is added
to help eliminate detonation or knocking. Keep in mind, this kit
can push your BMW factory exhaust system beyond its power tolerance
– we strongly recommend an upgrade to high flow performance headers
and a top quality free-flowing rear exhaust system. Like the ones
we make.
