Touted as the first fully successful out of the box turbo kit for
this platform, these HorsepowerFreaks turbo kits not only make
outrageous power, but can be installed by any qualified auto tech
on a standard S54 engine. Everything is plug and play / bolt on and
no permanent modifications are made to the car. Full color, easy to
follow instructions are included.
Taking power to the next level, HPF have added Methanol injection
to the equation for race gas performance...without race gas! At the
turn of a key, Methanol injection and the corresponding fuel and
ignition maps are loaded into the ECU for more power on demand.
Maybe most incredible is that with all this performance, your car
wills till be driveable and comfortable, day in and day out with
great usability and response.
Be warned, once you have felt this kind of power and speed, you
will never be the same.
Stage 2 HPF Turbo kit
From Horsepower Freaks:
Each HPF stage 2 system comes with all of the amazing stage 1
components but also allows the use of methanol or denatured
alcohol. This creates four pre-configured power settings. A 'low
boost' pump gas map (512bhp - 420rwhp) is the basic setting which
is designed to run on 91 octane fuel or better. This will
out-perform nearly every other production automobile on the planet
at 'low boost'. Add methanol to our stage 2 methanol tank (included
with this kit), and with 91 octane pump gas in your gas tank the
power will automatically increase to 670bhp (550rwhp). If that
isn`t enough, switch to 110 octane race fuel in your gas tank and
flip the 'keyed' race fuel switch that comes with our kits. Now you
re laying down a heart pounding 730hp (600rwhp). That's enough
power to go sideways at the top of 3rd gear (with stock tires)!!
Want even more power (how about 760bhp 625rwhp) just leave methanol
in the stage 2 methanol tank, and leave race fuel in the gas tank.
That s it! Now your M3 has enough power to propel you to 160mph
faster than most street bikes. Given weather conditions and
variations from car to car, these results may vary up to +/- 25rwhp
on any given day. Stage 2 is so popular with performance
enthusiasts because the additional "methanol" capabilities our kit
provides increases the benefits of forced induction drastically
especially when 91 octane pump gas is used. 91 octane pump gas
begins to pre-ignite in the E46 M3 engine when boost pressures
exceed 6 psi which is why the stage 1 turbo system is limited to
6psi on pump gas. With stage 2, when the computer detects methanol
in the methanol tank, it injects it into the intake manifold which
not only increases the effective octane rating of the combined
fuel, but also drops the intake air temperatures by as much as 50
degrees. This allows the same engine to run significantly more
boost with the same 91 octane pump gas thereby increasing the power
generated on pump gas by over 100rwhp.
Each turbo kit comes with complete installation instructions (with
full color pictures), and is entirely bolt on with no cutting,
wiring, welding or tuning required. This includes every component
you will need down to the last nut, bolt and washer and it all

Stage 2 adds:
Methanol components come pre-mounted to a bracket that installs
directly underneath the front bumper and wraps around the fog
lights, our intercooler piping and clears the front bumper support.
These components are simply plugged into a harness that also plugs
into the HPF750 engine management system. Since the factory horns
were in the way of our bracket, we created a mounting location for
each horn and etched the picture of the horn directly on our
polished bracket so they have a perfect location and the horn wires
require no extension. Our methanol kit utilizes an FJO modified
methanol pump and an FJO methanol fogger. This methanol fogger is
unique in that it creates an extremely dense fog by pressurizing
the methanol against a wall. This almost instantly vaporizes the
methanol providing an extremely cool "high octane" intake charge.
Our methanol system is automatic. No flipping switches or uploading
maps is required. When methanol is detected, our system
automatically allows the turbo to provide more boost, increases
timing to benefit from the higher effective octane, and drops fuel
to the injectors to compensate for the methanol fuel creating a
very safe A:F ratio. Everything is plug-n-play. The methanol system
plugs directly into our EMS without any cutting or wiring, and the
hard parts bolt to factory mounting points.
