After a lot of testing and years of racing and
street driving, VAC continues to recommend the following proven
spark plugs for the S54:

your engine.
385HP or less: Despite the claims of other "fancy" types
of plugs, the OEM type plug show the best performance on the Dyno
over the life of the plug and tend to also be the most reliable.
OEM NGK Spark Plugs, BMW Part(12 12 0 022 902) for the S54.
Can't argue with good hard data; so we sell and recommend these
that work the best.
Suitable for all naturally aspirated cars under 400HP. For highly
modded engines, or forced induction cars; see the plugs we
recommend below.
390HP or more NA / 500HP+ Boosted: The VAC staff
recommends these specific OEM-manufactured spark plugs for
replacements on S54s that are boosted, have been fitted nitrous, or
increased compression.
They are of a lower heat temperature than standard units, making
them a better choice for modified engines that see forced induction
or internal upgrades.
In our testing and years of use, these plugs work excellent on each
engine application they are intended for.
Despite the claims of other "fancy" aftermarket types of plugs,
these have shown the best performance on the Dyno as well as a
smoother idle and plenty of lifespan.
Under hard performance driving conditions, checking spark plug
gap and/or replacing these plugs on a regular 25-35k mile intervals
is recommended for best results.
