Redline has become a household name in racing
due to the quality of products they offer and the reliability they
have sustained.
For all BMWs pre- 2002 model year, this is the gear oil you
want for your differential.
75W90 is most Redline's most popular gear oil, this is a
preferred product in nearly all car and light truck differentials,
both conventional and limited-slip and is a preference for most
racing applications.
It contains friction modifiers which are recommended for most
limited-slip equipped differentials (LSDs).
75W90 Gear Oil can be used in many transmissions and transaxles;
however, other Red Line lubricants have better frictional
properties for rapid synchronization (smoother shifting with
'notchy' gearboxes like E30 M3s). These products specifically
intended for gearboxes are sold as Redline MTL, and redline
MT90.
Find these in links below...
- Specialty lubricant intended for high performance & heavy
duty use
- Exceeds API GL-5.
- Excellent choice in all BMW rear differentials up to E36 M3 and
E46 (non-m) models.
- (not recommended for E46M, Z4M, E92 M3 and later ///M models)
See 'HD Shock Proof' below.
- Most early model differentials use about 2 Liters, E36s on
typical need 3 to fill.
Tech Tip:
For gearbopxes that explicitly call for 75W90, Redline makes
'75w90NS' that has no friction modifiers in the product so it is
ideal for gearboxes/transmissions.
Due to the fact this isn't popular for BMW applications, we do not
stock the 75W90NS oil.
