For the E46, there is more to this solution than just improved performance...  Both street and racing customer love this flywheel because it performs so smoothly and takes any use flawlessly.
A bit of extra mass on this steel flywheel (18.5 lbs Vs 11 lbs for a typical aluminum version) is still dramatically lighter than OEM and helps with drivability and harmonic issues that some racers face when the flywheel is very-low mass; instigating problems when they flywheel has little to no harmonic damping characteristics. It also makes this Flywheel a great match for SMG cars.

Steel construction with accurate tolerances ensures high durability no matter what the task.
Designed with the intention to accept a sprung-hub clutch disc, this flywheel excellent for street use or racing rules.

  -E46 M3 input shaft diameter: 35mm vs. E36 29mm
  -All use the E46 M3 fitment pressure plate for best performance
  -At the inception of this flywheel, Grand Am rules allowed the use of lighter than stock flywheels... but stipulated that they could not be more than a given percentage lighter, and must have been made from steel. This flywheel is ideal for this application.
