Why Buy the VAC IDCM? We assessed from the start that our
Intelligent Turbo & Diesel Control Modules should meet all
standards of the BMW owner, not just "make power at any cost" or
sacrifice the safety of the power train.
Our Diesel Modules were tested in Europe shortly after the launch
of the current BMW Diesel, and for over a year before the 335d's US
debut. All programming and power gains were tested safe and
reliable over months, miles, and various environmental scenarios
from 5*F to 115*f and all types of humility.
At our safe and friendly power level, you wont experience the
limp mode that higher power levels can induce.
As well, we use no additional fuel in tuning your engine for more
power. This is not the typical way most
tuners work in the US...Many tuners will add power to
the engine as if it was a pickup truck; used for hauling a load and
do so by dumping more fuel into the engine. While this works, it
somewhat defeats the great advantage of Diesel performance.

Q) With more power, how does my car not consume more fuel?
Will it be as reliable?This is a logical and completely
normal question from a gasoline car perspective. Many tuners do
exactly that: add copious amounts of fuel to the engine to make

air per revolution as there is no throttle plate in a diesel
engine. What we do is alter how and when fuel is delivered
without increasing the amount of boost or fuel... This technology
is a new way to us living in the US who have tuned diesels without
much regard for economy or environmental impacts, but for our
European and other non-domestic friends, this methodology is a very
popular tuning method on many late model European cars and is
adapted well with some ingenuity to the BMW application.
Reliability is paramount on a new car, especially one that is
used as daily transportation. We want to offer the most reliable

testing over the past 4+ years with the BMW diesels, in Europe and

Q) Doesn't this have implications on the emissions system /
Diesels Particulate Filter?If the traditional methods of
turning ("more boost, more fuel") were implemented, then the DPF
will have to work harder to do its job. Getting clogged quicker,
taxing the system, decreasing component life and start throwing
"Check Engine" codes as a result. With our way of tuning, this
module genuinely keeps you Green as well as offering more power
without choking up the DPF with soot, or going into limp mode.
Q: What if BMW changes the ECU, or a new feature comes out?
Or if I sell the car?A: We want to offer what no others
can. We support our "Intelligent Controller" products 100% and
allow you to upgrade to the latest new features for free or very
minimal money. In this example, if you were to purchase this unit
now and we come up with a new feature like a switch to change
features we would upgrade the firmware for free and only charge you
for the additional hardware required to do that. This way you get
all the benefits of the new features without having to spend a
bunch of money! ALSO, if you get a new BMW, like a 335i, or X6M
or even new Turbo M3 or M5 (everyone knows that's next). We will be
able to offer you a super quick option of a new harness &
software reprogram, and now your ITCM works on your new car!
The ITCM is very flexible and will be upgraded over the years.
Q: Can we have a way to have both Power and Economy maps on
the fly?A: While a "switch" to offer this feature is in the
works, it may not be necessary... The Economy Tune offers improved
economy with the regular driver operating the vehicles on a
day to day basis.
With the power tune, we have actually seen slight improvements in
economy; its up to the drivers judicious use of the throttle to
make sure they are not constantly flooring it ; ) but test
data shows that the the performance tune applied on our IDCM, when
driven against the standard BMW ECU with no IDCM matches or exceeds
the normal ECU in economy, and obviously offers improved
performance whenever the driver wishes.
