Some use water/methanol as a failsafe in and of itself to
protect an expensive engine build from catastrophe if something
goes awry during high stress.
Others use water/methanol to push their set up beyond the limits
of the lower octane fuels found on the street.
Either way, the AEM Water/Methanol Failsafe
monitors the entire curve of the system and if there is an error in
either direction (hi or low flow) it goes into alert and failsafe
modes – the gauge itself blinks to alert the driver, but more
importantly there is a high and a low side output that can trigger
an ECU to change maps or power a solenoid to dump boost (this
happens so quickly that if the blinking gauge hasn’t caught the
attention of the driver, the driver will notice the boost has been
dropped or map has changed).
Installation and set up is easy, and knowing
your water/methanol system is fully safe will make your time in
boost even more enjoyable!
Works equally well for aftermarket boosted BMWs, and those new
generations with factory turbochargers.
