Thank you for purchasing the VAC VANOS Elimination Kit. Our CAD designed and CNC machined kit is the easiest and best way to lock cam timing while drastically reducing rotating mass in the valvetrain.
Turn the engine to TDC and follow BMW procedures for the complete removal of the VANOS assembly. It is important to note that the only VANOS components which will be re-used are the cam sprockets. (See Picture 1) The VAC-made cam gear hub is designed with a sliding fit on the OEM sprockets to allow for adjustment.

· Hardware kit
- M6 x 1 x 14 socket head bolt (12)
- M6 x 1 x 16 socket head bolt (12)
- M6 washer (12)
Installation Instructions:
1.) For ease of installation, begin by loosely attaching the OEM cam gear sprocket to the VAC cam gear hub using two bolts. These should have a nice sliding fit.
2.) Install the VAC cam gear hubs to the cams using the OEM hardware (no washers). Use loctite and torque to factory specs. Note: Since you are already at TDC, it makes the job easier to initially position the sprockets as close to the center of their travel as possible. This will help you when timing the cams.
3.) Set cam timing according to the cam manufacturer’s specifications. To attach the cam sprockets to the VAC sprocket adapter, use the supplied 14mm long socket head cap screws with Loctite.
4.) After setting cam timing, remove one bolt, apply loctite and torque to 7 N-m. Repeat for the remaining bolts.
