Thank you for purchasing the VAC VANOS Block-Off Kit. Our CAD designed and CNC machined plate and hub set is machined here at VAC and is the easiest and best way to lock cam timing while drastically reducing rotating mass in the valve train.
Please take a moment to review the contents of this kit:
(1) VAC block off plate
(2) VAC cam sprocket hub
(1) VAC-VEK-S54-VBO
Hardware kit:
(12) M6 x 1 x 14 socket head bolt
(12) M6 x 1 x 16 socket head bolt
(12) M6 washer
Follow BMW procedures for the complete removal of the VANOS assembly.
***Note the New Revision You will not need the Vanos Drive gear that went in the cam as the new Hubs are made to the right offset for timing chain alignment. ***
Install the VAC sprocket hubs, using the supplied M6 x 16mm socket head cap screws, Gr 12.9. Use loctite and torque to factory specs. Next, install the cam sprockets and set cam timing according to the cam manufacturer’s specifications. To attach the cam sprockets to the VAC sprocket hub, use the supplied 14mm long socket head cap screws with Loctite and washers.
Use the supplied VAC-VEK-S54-VBO to block the flow of oil into the OE Vanos tube. This blocks the flow of oil from the engine and prevents excessive oil leakage from the bypass mechanism in the tube. Be sure to use new O-rings, supplied in a head gasket kit, or reuse O-rings with the factory plug AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you have questions about this process, please call to speak with a representative.
