AEM’s X-Series OBDII gauge puts multiple channels of data at your fingertips by reading the CAN bus stream of your vehicle’s OBD port and transmitting those channels to the gauge display. It reads Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and gives you the ability to clear codes.

Wiring is as simple as connecting the gauge to your vehicle’s OBDII port using the supplied connector. Because the X-Series OBDII gauge reads OBDII parameters transmitted through a vehicle’s CAN datastream, it will only work on 2008+ model year vehicles.

EASY TO USE

Use the ‘Page’ button on the gauge face to scroll through available channels of data transmitted through the OBD port. Possible channels may include IAT, EGT, RPM, Ethanol %, MAF, Fuel Pressure, Manifold Pressure, Boost Pressure, TPS, Vehicle Speed, Lambda and more (channel availability is ultimately dependent upon what channels are programmed to transmit by the vehicle manufacturer).

This Document is a user-generated open-source document that lists possible OBDII CAN-based vehicles prior to 2008. Please note: Use this document at your own risk. READ & CLEAR TROUBLE CODES

The ‘DTC’ button tells the gauge to scan for trouble codes and will report any stored DTCs, allowing you to look them up and determine the course of repair. This button also allows users to clear DTCs once the problem is resolved.

The X-Series AEM OBD2 Gauge has sweeping LED “needle” lines at the edge of the gauge face for quick reference. A 33% overall increase in the gauge face display makes it easier to see at a glance. X-Series Gauges come with a black bezel and faceplate.

AEM's X-Series OBDII Wideband UEGO AFR Sensor Controller Gauge provides tuners who are using piggyback tuning modules or open source software with the ability to view AFR through the factory CAN-bus stream that is output by the factory ECU to deliver the most accurate, safe and powerful tune.

The X-Series OBDII Wideband Gauge is validated to work with EFILive, HPTuners and DashDaq software.

This Gauge includes an OBDII pass-through connector and Bosch 4.9LSU sensor that can be free-air calibrated or used with the factory resistor calibration.

OBDII CAN-bus OUTPUT

The OBDII output simulates an auxiliary ECU signal when plugged into a vehicle’s OBD port, which requires a unique address from the other ECUs already on a vehicle’s network.

AEM’s default OBDII CAN address will work with most popular vehicles and adjustments should not be necessary. However, AEM has provided OBDII address programmability through the buttons on the gauge face if a different address other than the default address is required, allowing users to program ECU #, Parameter Identification (PID), Message Identifier, and Bit Rate.

Deadtime is the delay between when exhaust gas composition changes and when that change is reported by the O2 sensor. While flow of exhaust gasses (transport delay) can affect deadtime, it is not the only source. Often, the sensing element's response to the gas is the largest contributor to deadtime when an engine is at high RPM under load.

When tuning an engine using wideband AFR feedback control on an inertia dyno, deadtime affects the data you are looking at because it is reported in a different operating location than when it actually occurred. This means with long deadtimes, whatever changes you make to the base fueling will likely be in the wrong location. This can be particularly dangerous to high compression and high-boost forced induction vehicles, and EFI systems that use feedback control to auto-tune.

These steering column mounted gauge pods for the E46 are an excellent alternative to A-pillar mounted gauges where your airbag is located.

For use with E46 M3 or non-M cars with 3-spoke steering wheels or aftermarket steering wheels. 4-spoke steering wheels have a "bulkier backside" and less clearance for the gauge bar.

This gauge pod system easily attaches to your factory upper steering column cover. Simply remove your upper column cover and install the new retaining nut. Reinstall your upper column cover and then attach the gauge pods. Installation is clean and simple and requires basic hand tools.

Unlike other gauge holders, these pods are available in 60mm or 52mm (2 1/16 inch). You may mix and match the pods to accommodate the gauges you want. If you ever swap out gauges for a different size, simply purchase an extra pod of the correct size and install. There is no need to buy a whole new system.

Steering column mounted gauges are more stealth looking and make for a cleaner, factory style installation.

Gauge pods and center bar are CNC machined from aluminum, glass bead blasted for a matte finish and then anodized black. This reduces glare from the gauge pod system while keeping the black color and good looks of a CNC machined piece.

Gauge pods will pivot independently or can be swapped from left to right even if a staggered 52mm / 60mm setup is used.

NOTE1: We provide an allen wrench with these kits so you can swap gauge pods left to right or adjust them without purchasing any tools.

NOTE2: Included are several strips of felt tape that may be placed on a gauge to give it a snug fit in the pod. Not all 52mm or 60mm gauges are exact size.
