The factory main bolts in the BMW S58 are sufficient for stock power levels, but when you're increasing boost, RPMs, and engine loads, the need for a more robust fastener becomes critical. The ARP Main Stud Kit eliminates the risk of main cap walk--a condition where the main caps shift under load, leading to misalignment, excessive bearing wear, and even catastrophic engine failure. ARP2000 offers improved strength over standard head stud material, making it ideal for forced induction and racing use: This is our preferred M50-family head stud.

L19 head studs for the S54 are used on our high HP builds where more than 600 WHP will be used. These are recommended for our custom and high-HP FI customers

Whenever your cylinder head is coming off, you're switching to forced induction, or if you are simply preparing to drive your car hard, you will need to replace your OEM hardware; we highly recommend switching to ARP Head Studs for far superior race-grade hardware.

ARP’s Head Stud Kits greatly improve reliability by helping to eliminate movement of the cylinder head and the gasket failure caused by inferior OEM head-bolt stretch.

This is the #1 cause of premature head gasket failure, especially on boosted or high output engines. Though more expensive than OEM, converting to one of ARP’s head studs kits will not only give added strength and reliability when it's needed most, but also provide the most accurate torque readings because these studs don’t “twist” into the block; all clamping forces are on one axis, and there is less force exerted on the normally stressed threads of the block. This increases block and hardware life and typically makes the head easier to properly install to the block.

Especially in the time crunch of racing, when engines are disassembled frequently, studs make removing and installing the cylinder head onto the block a much easier task. By allowing the studs to act as a guide on to the head, your head slides on and off and also ensures proper alignment of the head and gasket for the same reason.

The 7/8"-14 threaded adapter fittings are compatible with 10AN ORB (O-ring boss) ports. Because the threads on these fittings are not used for sealing, PTFE paste or thread sealant is not required. The FKM O-ring should be lubricated with engine oil.

ORB ports are an industry standard and found on many automotive plumbing products, including most Radium products. All fittings include FKM O-rings.
