This seat extender was originally developed after a 6'6" driver couldn't get comfortable behind the wheel because the factory seat simply didn’t travel far enough.

Driving too close to the steering wheel isn’t just uncomfortable—it can also be unsafe in the event of airbag deployment.

The VAC Universal Seat Extender relocates the factory seat mounting position rearward by up to 4 inches (100mm), allowing taller drivers to achieve a safer and more natural driving position.

Originally engineered for performance vehicles with flat seat mounting surfaces, this system can also work with many other vehicles including trucks, classic cars, hot rods, and custom builds that share similar seat mounting geometry.

How To Determine If It Will Fit Your Vehicle

Because this product works with factory seat mounting geometry, determining compatibility is simple.

Step 1 – Remove the Factory Seat

Unbolt the factory seat from the floor. You can typically leave the seat wiring connected.

Step 2 – Measure Front to Rear Mounting Distance

Measure the distance front to rear on your drivers seat.

Measure from the center of the front mounting hole to the center of the rear mounting hole.

Important: Measure front to rear only — NOT side to side.

The adjustable side travel stops and centering location let you dial in this shifter exactly to your application while the height positions the shifter optimally for quick shifts and less time with hands off the wheel. The cast aluminum base has been FEA optimized to ensure rigidity for the long haul at the lightest weight possible, we've really pulled out all the stops on this one.

A few notes on installation:

Shifter locates on a factory hole in the unibody on E36, E46, and E90/2 chassis. Drilling of two small holes on these chassis is required for mounting.
Captured fasteners provide anti-rotation features for the mounting bolts allowing for installation to be accomplished by one person

We now offer this bracket for your G80/G82 generation chassis. It allows installation of an extinguisher under either the passenger or drivers side (or both) on your G80/G82; allowing quick and easy access to the extinguisher in the event of an emergency. Comes in your choice of black or red.
