GiroDisc Lightweight Rotors are designed to be compatible with various applications, including BMW F80, F82, and F83 M2 / M3 / M4 models, including CS variants.
When converting from carbon ceramic rotors, the GiroDisc iron rotors serve as a direct replacement without the need for modifications. It is highly recommended to change the pads simultaneously with the rotor replacement, ensuring compatibility with the iron rotors.
To provide superior performance, the central hat section of the GiroDisc rotor is meticulously crafted from 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum sourced exclusively from the United States. The disc itself is made from GiroDisc's proprietary cast iron, which is poured and machined in-house at their facility. The rotor features a curved vane design, derived from racing expertise, which functions as a centrifugal pump, effectively directing cooling air through the disc for optimal performance.
The rotor and hat incorporate a floating mount system that utilizes 12 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by GiroDisc in the USA according to their specifications. These drive pins are cadmium plated for enhanced corrosion resistance. They efficiently distribute the load during braking actions while maintaining the necessary axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are securely fastened with class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers.
Anti-noise spring washers are mounted on the rotor side of the pins to prevent noise during cold starts. These spring washers allow the rotor to expand with heat while eliminating any unwanted rattling or noise associated with floating rotors. The float design also facilitates self-centering of the rotor between the pads, ensuring optimal performance.
Once installed, maintenance becomes simple as the cast iron rotor can be easily replaced when necessary. Trust GiroDisc for reliable, high-performance brake solutions.
