Installation Instructions

Please follow these instructions and guidelines to ensure a proper and safe installation of your VAC Motorsports Floor Mount Adapters.

Kit Contents

Your kit should include the following components:

(2) Billet Floor Mount Adapter bars (inner and outer)
(4) M8 × 1.25 × 25mm hex head bolts
(4) Flat washers - 8mm ID × 24mm OD
(4) Wave washers - 8mm ID × 15mm OD

Installation Steps

1. Verify Kit Contents

Before beginning installation, confirm that all components listed above are present. Some hardware may shift during shipping or become hidden in packaging material. If any parts are missing, contact VAC Motorsports before proceeding.

2. Identify Adapter Orientation (Volkswagen MK6)

On MK6 Volkswagen applications, if one adapter bar is wider than the other, the wider bar installs toward the outside of the vehicle (door side).

3. Install Floor Mount Adapters to the Chassis

Position the floor mount adapters onto the factory seat mounting points. Loosely install the supplied bolts, flat washers, and wave washers. Leave the hardware slightly loose to allow for adjustment.

4. Carpet and Insulation Considerations

Factory carpet and insulation can be compressed without issue during installation. If preferred, flat washers may be added under each mounting point to slightly space the adapters above the carpet.

5. Seat Positioning & Ergonomics

Seat placement is a personal preference, but for optimal performance and comfort:

The driver should sit upright and well supported
Pedals should be fully depressed without overextending the knees
The steering wheel should be reachable through nearly 180° of rotation without removing hands (elbows typically near right angles)

6. Prepare Seat and Side Mount Brackets

Attach your side-mount brackets to the seat. Lower the seat assembly onto the floor mount adapters and loosely install the mounting hardware. Keep all fasteners slightly loose for final positioning.

If you are using VAC Motorsports Superior Side Mounts (included in our Race Seat Installation Kit), proceed directly to Step 8.

7. Adjustment Clearance Check

If you run out of adjustment due to wide side-mount brackets contacting the floor pan, VAC Motorsports Superior Side Mounts are recommended. They are specifically designed for the tighter floor pan clearance found in modern Volkswagen chassis.

8. Mark and Align Mounting Holes

Once the seat is positioned correctly, identify the closest and most suitable mounting holes between the side mounts and floor mount adapters. Mark the locations clearly (masking tape is recommended).

Depending on seat brand and design, minor slotting of side-mount holes may be required.

9. Final Tightening Sequence

With the seat properly positioned:

Tighten the floor mount adapter bolts to the chassis
Tighten the side-mount brackets to the floor mount adapters
Tighten the seat to the side-mount brackets

10. Final Inspection

Check the entire assembly for rigidity and proper torque. There should be no movement or play in the seat or mounts. Verify that all fasteners are secure and that no tools remain in the vehicle.

Installation Complete

You are now ready to enjoy your sport or race seats. Always verify seat and harness mounting before driving, especially for track use.
