The VAC BMW Race Seat Installation Kit is the easiest, most reliable way to mount aftermarket race seats into your BMW. But what happens when you want to retain your factory 3-point seat belt for street legality and everyday driveability?

When installing fixed-back or bucket race seats, most BMWs lose the ability to use the OEM seat-mounted 3-point buckle -- especially in modern models where the buckle is integrated with the seat base. In many states or countries, this renders your car not street-legal.

That's why we created this kit: to retain the factory 3-point seat belt system after removing the stock seats.

You can sandwich this bracket between the VAC FMA and the chassis, or mount it on top depending on your seat rail height and personal preference.

✅ Recommended for track-day builds, dual-duty cars, and any BMW running VAC FMAs or Race Seat Install Kits while retaining stock 3-point belts.

⚠️ Sensor Notice

This adapter does not contain buckle sensors -- meaning:

Seat belt light and airbag light may remain illuminated
Ideal for off-road, track day, or retrofitted cars where full SRS functionality is not required

🧠 VAC Tech Tips:

Required on all 4-door models and Z3/Z4 using VAC seat base kits.
Works with most BMWs using seat-mounted belt buckles (22mm).
If you're also installing a racing harness, this adapter makes our VAC Lap Belt Mounting Bracket Kit redundant -- just add a harness eye bolt in place of the standard bolt, and use both the harness and 3-point belt on the same anchor point.

👨‍🔧 Technician's Note:

Because race seat widths and mounting clearances vary, this kit may not allow a factory belt to fully restrain the driver in every seating position. It ensures legal compliance by keeping the 3-point belt in the car -- but we strongly recommend using proper 5- or 6-point harnesses for any track use with fixed-back race seats.

Needed for a factory belt

The control a seat gives you is unrivaled. You can drive faster, with more confidence, and feel more of what your suspension is doing. It allows you to loosen your grip on the steering wheel, and pay attention to what your butt is telling you. If you want these advantages, but also want to run to get groceries you will be retaining your factory belt. This seat belt adaptor is truly the only way to do it safely. The install is as easy as it looks. Highly recommended if installing a seat.

Did The Job, Could Be Better

Bought these so that I could use a Schroth Quick Fit Pro setup over a harness that would require a roll bar/roll cage. Works in that I was able to stay secured with the Schroth, but with my OEM 3 point I don't think it would keep me safe in that there is no tension since the seat sensors are disconnected when fitted with a race seat. Would be great if it came with a setup that could allow the OEM seatbelt receptacle to be retained. Other than this it works.

Nice package, but some minor issues

I want to preface this by saying the parts included in the package are very nice.

As we all know, the e36 has some special issues when fitting fixed back seats. To obtain the best seat placement, the side mounts for the seat must be placed as far inboard as physically possible. In doing so, it is not possible to fit the inboard bracket under the floor mount anchors. Instead I was forced to mount the brackets to the furthest rear holes in the top of the floor mounts. This worked out perfect for my Status Ring seats, but may not for all applications in the e36.
The seat belt receptacle just barely stayed under the seat bolster, with the seat at it's highest setting.
