VAC Engine Leak Down Test Plate was developed for engine builders and machinists who want accurate piston ring sealing data after cylinder head removal. Instead of trying to determine whether leakage is coming from valves, rings, or head sealing issues, this tool isolates the pistons and rings directly at the block for precise leak down testing.

Designed and used in-house by VAC Motorsports, this billet aluminum fixture mounts directly to the engine block using the head gasket surface. Once installed, simply connect your standard leak down tester and pressurize the cylinder to evaluate ring seal and cylinder integrity.

This design allows testing of two cylinders at once for faster workflow and more consistent readings during engine teardown, inspection, and blueprinting.

Whether you are evaluating a tired street engine, diagnosing blow-by issues, or verifying a fresh performance build before final assembly, this tool gives engine builders reliable, repeatable data.

The BMW V8 engines are durable and long lasting, but being aluminum, they are not robust enough to tolerate improper machining or assembly, and are not suitable for all performance applications without proper measures.

Proper machining and assembly is crucial to the success and longevity of the BMW V8s, especially when over boring or sleeving the block.
The VAC Engine Block Torque Plate 'loads' the block as if a head was already fitted. This torque applied to the block simulates the final assembled product and ensures that the cylinder walls are bored and honed perfectly round when final assembly is complete.BMW engines are precision equipment, greater care when machining an engine will assure you are off to a great start.

Larger displacement 4 cylinder engines endure harsh harmonics and loads, proper machining and assembly is crucial to the longevity of your engine, stock rebuild or full race.
The VAC Engine Block Torque Plate 'loads' the block as if a head was already fitted. This torque applied to the block simulates the final assembled product and ensures that the cylinder walls are bored and honed perfectly round when final assembly is complete.

One Torque Plate is supplied to be used for each bank of cylinders, one at a time.

When the head bolt threads on your BMW M54 OE and M5x engine block strip out, you will need to perform the proper thread repair. The first step in insuring that the work is done poperly is to use the proper tooling. Our VAC Head Bolt Thread Repair Fixture will insure that you drill and tap the block perpendicular, or square, to insure that the Time-Sert M10x1.5mm Inserts install correctly. Our fixture also locates all holes in the perfect location based on Blueprint dimensions. Using our kit will allow a Better-than-New repair on aluminum M54 blocks, and will also work on cast iron BMW M5x blocks, offering a permanent quality repair instead of engine replacement.

The VAC Head Bolt Thread Repair Fixture, Part # VAC-07-HBTRF-M54, is supllied with the following:

_ (2) Drill Bushings

_ (14) Drill Bushing Screws

_ (2) Aluminum Locating Dowels

The Time-Sert Installation Kit is supplied with:
