These vac hub extenders did the trick to get a smooth and balanced ride. Apex should never be allowed to say that 5mm spacer is ok to be used on BMWs. The contact area on the hub is unacceptable with a 5mm spacer and apex wheels. Vac hub extenders solve most of the issues with the 5mm spacer. Get these! BTW bmw floating hub caps will not fit with these hub extenders.

I see reviews saying "must have with 5mm spacers", but I had like 15mm of gap from my spacer to the wheel when installing my wheel. The wheel center bore on the VMR is not bored deep enough or these do not work with 5mm spacers is my conclusion. Have yet to try them with my stock wheels. Was considering turning thew outer lip down on the lathe at work to get them to sink in a little deeper. But I do like the fitment on them. Obviously not running them right now.

I ordered these to put on my Z4M which has 5mm spacers in front. Ever since installing the spacers, I had some steering wheel vibrations at highway speeds. I did some research and people suggested that I purchase and install these hub extenders. Install was easy, just don't forget to take off the dust cap (d'oh!). Also the ones I received appeared to be black anodized which look better than the ones pictured here.

Great product. Looks beautiful as all VAC products do, and went in super easily. Spent more time taking off the dust caps than I did getting the extenders on. Also eliminated the wheel-shake I was getting from running 8mm spacers. Thanks VAC!

IMPORTANT FITMENT NOTE

This product is designed for BMW applications utilizing the modern 72.5mm factory hub bore.

If you have a classic BMW or BMW E39 chassis, you may require the 74.1mm Wheel Hub Extender version instead.

Installation requires the removal of the factory BMW dust cap before installing the VAC Wheel Hub Extender.

Once the factory dust cap is removed, the hub extender is designed to install as an interference fit onto the factory hub. Please clean with a wire brush if needed and the ID should be 66mm.

There are two common installation methods:

OPTION 1 -- Rubber Mallet Installation

Using a hard rubber mallet, start the hub extender evenly onto the hub and gradually tap it into place.

Work evenly around the extender at:

12 o'clock
3 o'clock
6 o'clock
9 o'clock

Continue working around the hub extender until fully seated.

OPTION 2 -- 2x4 & Small Sledge Method

For easier installation, position a short 2x4 section against the face of the hub extender.

Using a small, low-poundage sledgehammer, lightly tap the wood block to evenly seat the extender onto the hub.

This method helps distribute force evenly and is often easier than using a rubber mallet alone.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES

Ensure the hub surface is clean before installation
Install hub extenders evenly to avoid binding
Do not strike the hub extender directly with a metal hammer
Verify full seating before wheel installation
Professional installation recommended for motorsport applications
