Q: What size bolt do I need?
A: Measure the Under-head Length (UL) of your original bolt: from the tip of the bolt to just under the conical portion of the top.
- If you are replacing a standard bolt, simply order the same size.
- If you are using spacers, calculate the additional length you are adding example: 25mm Under-head Length + 20mm spacer = 45mm.
- Insure that you have at least 12mm engagement into the wheel hub.
Due to the nature of variations between wheels and spacer, VAC can-not offer recommended lengths. The lengths you require should be verified by measurement.
VAC Tech Note
The use of any anti-seize compound, spray lubricant like WD-40®, grease, or any other oil/lubricant on the threads is dangerous and will cause an inaccurate torque reading when installing your lug bolts or studs.
WE STRESS the use of a torque wrench whenever installing wheels! Over tightening can cause a fatigue or yield of the shaft leaving a damaged, dangerous bolt. You may clean, and chase threads, however use anti-seize at your own risk.
Use of a torque wrench is a must, BMW suggest 88 ft. lbs on the M12 bolts.
Did you know?: If you plan on serious driving and cannot remember the last time you replaced your lugs... it might be time...
Lugs are considered a consumable item and do stretch, fatigue and wear out over time!
