Great product. I ordered these to put a Recaro seat in my E36 M3. The floor mounts fit perfectly (other than the "MachtSchnell" mounts which didn't work in my car)
Also everything was here within two weeks. Very good customer service too.
Won't be the last item I purchased at VAC...

Title says it all. I haven't been impressed by a relatively simple product in a long. The fitment is spot on, the quality outstanding, and combined with the lap belt attachments and anti-sub strap bracket, this is without a doubt the most well engineered seat mounting kit I have ever seen. Surprisingly light as well!

I have mounted seats before, and until now, thought they were solid. These are the best seat mount I have used or seen. They allow the most possible adjustment, so you can get as centered to the wheel as possible in an E36. Like all VAC milled parts they look beautiful, but I was most impressed at how solid they were.

What I Should Have Bought The First Time

Ordered the VAC Motorsports Sidemounts for my Cobra Imola Pro GT seat and was hoping that they would mount up to the Macht Schnell floor mounts I bought, wrong. They didn't line up at all. Months later I finally bought the VAC floor mounts and from the beginning I had no real issues with fitment. Save yourself the headache and buy both the floor and sidemounts from VAC, will probably save buying them together plus what you would have spent shipping separately.

Customer Review: The floor mounts fit perfectly onto the existing chassis bolt holes, and they are long enough to accommodate almost any height.
My suggestions for improvement would be that the front be extended another couple of inches, because I bet anyone on the short side would run into limitations as to how close they could get.
VAC: If you are under 5'6" you may wish to accommodate this kit with a slider.
Also, another row of peg holes on the inside mount, to allow mounting even closer to the center, would be helpful. Space is very tight in the E36, but even mounted all the way to the inside, I have a good 1" clear between the seat and the center console. The result is that my seat is not centered on the steering wheel. I was not up to any more fabrication to adjust that, and I'm going to try living with it for a while. But another row of pegs on the inside would make this a 5-star product.
VAC: This is the first time we have see this, typically customers are able to center their seat without an issue. Cobras are our best selling seat
A minor quibble is on the seat side mounts: Their angle from the mounting holes overlaps the seatbelt pass-throughs (on Cobra seats at least). A more notched side mount would avoid the problem.
VAC: They can be mounted farther back to avoid this problem without issue.
Given those caveats, the engineering is clearly well done. High quality manufacturing and materials. I definitely feel safe with my seats mounted with this hardware.

Please use these instructions and guidelines to aid in the installation of your new product.
Your kit should include the following:
(2) Floor Mount Adapter “bars” - Inner and Outer
(4) Bolts- M8 x 1.25 x 25mm Hex Head
(4) Washers- 8mm ID, 24mm OD
(2) Side Mount Brackets

1. Please check that all components listed above have arrived in your box and are ready to be installed. Look closely, as some components may have shifted, or become mixed in with packing materials. If you are missing any components, please contact us right away. 2. For all BMW applications: If one Floor Mount Adapter bar is wider than the other, the widest bracket always mounts closest to the outside of the car.3. Begin to bolt our adapters to the floor first, keep them loose enough to move around a bit. 4. If you have maintained your original interior, carpet and insulation can compress down without any issues whatsoever. If you are not comfortable doing this, you can use a washer under each mounting location to space it up slightly. 5. Seat placement is a personal preference. If you’re aiming for best high performance ergonomics, a good outline to work within is one that keeps the driver fairly upright and comfortable. One that the pedals can be fully depressed without over extending the knee joint, and one that enables the driver to turn the wheel close to 180 degrees without taking their hands off the wheel (usually your elbows will be at, or close to, right-angles). 6. For the E36 and E46 cars, the wide Floor Mount Adapter mounts closest to the door.7. Once you have found your location, you are ready to bolt your side brackets to the seat and set the seat down onto the floor mount adapters, again keep everything a little loose. If you have VAC side mount brackets (like in our Race Seat Installation Kit), skip to step #9.8. At this step, if you have run out of adjustment room (if your side mount brackets are too wide for your floor pan), may we recommend our VAC Universal Side Mount brackets, made specially narrow for tight installs on most modern floor pans. If you have adequate clearance and room for comfortable placement of your seat, proceed on.9. Eye up the closest holes to use on your seat and clearly mark them on the seat and bracket (we recommend using some masking tape for this job). Sometimes, depending on the manufacturer and type of your seat, an elongation of the holes in the side bracket may be required.10. Once everything is assembled loosely and your seat is positioned where you want to use it, start to tighten the floor mount adapter bolts and then the side mount to floor mount adapter bolts in that order. You can then tighten your seat to the side mount brackets.11. You are finished! Test your seat mounts and seats for play, you should have none. Make sure everything is tightened properly and securely, and that you have left no tools in the vehicle.
