NOTE: The M50-S54 Swap is basically an S54 Pump with the correct sprocket to fit into the M50 family of engines. M50 / M52/ S50US / S52US. Unlike other "solutions" that only address one failure of the oil pump, our "Oil Pump Upgrade Kit" solves both issues the M50 family of oil pumps face: The gear retaining nut backing off the shaft, AND- sheering of the drive shaft mechanism. Things that we have seen in an attempt to modify the OE pump mechanism are very susceptible to human error (welding the nut on, using wire to affix to the shaft, etc). Not only can these "fixes" fail, but they only truly solve half the problem! The shaft sheering is not addressed in any other fix, still leaving this most important component vulnerable to an all too common damage. Please do not underestimate the extremely common failure these engines experience! Pump failure is just the start as the result is very costly engine damage! We feel that all modified street cars and vehicles that see track use MUST have this upgrade.
Procedure:
Our oil pump comes as a fully assembled direct replacement OEM BMW pump.
We inspect and clean each unit, hand check and confirm gear and pressure relief valve
Service the unit, and debur all rough edges
Professionally fit it with our Oil Pump Upgrade Kit.
It's ready for use when it arrives to you.
VAC Tech Note:
We only accept late style, rebuildable M5x/S5x oil pumps for cores. While the early pumps are quite rare these days, from time time we do see them and they are not eligible for core credit.
